The Amputee/Limb Loss Restoration Program of the Johns Hopkins Rehabilitation Network has been providing services to people with limb loss for more than 20 years. The Johns Hopkins Rehabilitation Network is comprised of two acute inpatient rehabilitation units at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and multidisciplinary outpatient treatment facilities in Central Maryland.
In the inpatient rehabilitation units, we partner with patients who have lost a limb to ensure that they are able to manage daily activities and mobility. In the outpatient setting, amputee rehabilitation physicians (physiatrists) partner with patients and a team that includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, and prosthetists to develop a treatment plan that fits the patient’s individual needs, goals, and lifestyle. Rehabilitation psychologist also collaborate with patients for a whole-person approach in the management of limb loss. Surgical partners in Orthopaedics, Vascular Surgery, and Plastic Surgery allow us to provide patients innovative treatment alternatives to manage pain or improve prosthesis fit. Team members are also involved in research to help people with limb loss have access to the latest advances in care. Our goal is to help our patients reach their full potential by offering the most appropriate medical, rehabilitative, and prosthetic treatment options available.
