This fact sheet focuses on nationwide, sport-specific resources that provide an overview of the adapted version of a particular sport; there may be leagues or teams located closer to your area not listed below. Some Web sites include a team or league locator to help you find a team near your location. Other Web sites have information and trainings for local schools and recreational centers that discuss how to set up adaptive sports programs. Perhaps you can be an agent of change for your community by working with a local community center to develop an adaptive league in your area.

Finding a prosthetist who understands the unique issues involved with upper-limb amputation is important in getting the best functional outcome with upper-limb prostheses. Unfortunately, not all prosthetists have wide experience fitting persons with upper-limb loss, which is relatively uncommon. (Estimates of major limb loss cite 15 times as many lower-limb amputees as upper-limb amputees.[i])

Second Life is a virtual world that was created by Linden Lab in 2003. What is a virtual world? It is similar to the real world we live in except it is accessed by a computer. People are represented as avatars which are digital versions of themselves.
