It’s one of the largest independent rehabilitation hospitals in the U.S.

Mary Free Bed’s Amputation Programs coordinate care with its network members to assist patients with limb loss at every stage of recovery, from pre-amputation consultations and post-operative care to acute rehabilitation, home-based services and long-term care by our on-site Orthotics & Prosthetics + Bionics department, which is accredited by the ABC (American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics).

Our extensive specialty outpatient services include an amputee clinic, day rehabilitation, driver’s rehabilitation and one of the largest adaptive sports programs in the country. We also offer a peer mentor program and an amputee support group for people in the community.

We have an exceptional rehabilitation team that specializes in restoring independence for patients with amputations or limb differences.

Mary Free Bed also provides diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care for infants, children and teens with congenital and acquired limb differences. When it was established in 1946, the MFB Center for Limb Differences was the nation’s first to focus exclusively on the unique needs of young patients, and that pioneering work continues today.
