How to Find Support

Whether you, a friend, or family member is facing amputation or has been impacted by limb loss or limb difference in any way, the Amputee Coalition offers several ways to find useful information, support and encouragement when it is needed most.

Request a Peer Visit

Receiving support from someone who can relate to the limb loss and limb difference journey can be a turning point in the recovery process. The Amputee Coalition has trained over 1,500 volunteers with limb loss, limb difference, and their family members to meet with individuals and families in times of need. Peer visits take place every day across the country, in person, on the phone, via email, and video chat.

If you would like to request a peer visit from one of our Certified Peer Visitors, please complete the request form, call us at 888-267-5669 Option 3, or email peersupport@amputee-coalition.org. The Amputee Coalition Peer Support Team will connect you with a well-suited volunteer based on the information you share in your request.

Find a Support Group

Support groups are a vital part of the recovery process and provide an invaluable place for individuals and families who have been impacted by limb loss and limb difference to connect with others who have overcome similar challenges. The Amputee Coalition has over 200 registered support groups throughout the country.

The Amputee Coalition National Limb Loss Resource Center® is staffed by certified Information and Referral Specialists who are trained to answer your questions about resources, support, etc., and can connect you with the Amputee Coalition’s educational materials to aid you in your limb loss or limb difference journey. Please connect with an Information and Referral Specialist via phone or by completing a request form.

Community Connections

Our online database — Community Connections — identifies resources, services, and support at the national, state, and local levels. Community Connections is a searchable database where you can enter your zip code and find resources closest to you.  You also can search by topic area, such as support groups, housing, financial help, home modifications and others. 

This resource is one more offering for the limb loss and limb difference community to have important information about the issues that matter most.
